About Us

Built in 1896, P.S. 28 has been proudly serving the Mount Hope community for over 120 years.

Welcome to our school! P.S. 28 is deeply rooted in nurturing and immersing our school community that celebrates diverse cultural backgrounds to work collaboratively to prepare them for the 21st century workforce. Every child deserves a quality education through public education, innovation, and reform. We encourage our students, parents, and faculty to Take the Lead on their potential and road to success!

Principal's Message

It is a special honor to serve as the Principal of P.S. 28, and so I must begin with a thank you. My appreciation and respect for you as the parents, students and teachers of P.S. 28 is immeasurable, and I could not do this leadership work without you.

At the Mount Hope Centennial school, we provide an environment where students are seen and heard and are able to reach their full potential as scholars. As a school community, we want to ensure that we are staying true to our mission at Mount Hope: fostering an equitable and safe student-centered learning environment, where our young scholars are encouraged to work together openly and respectfully. We know that working every day to build this foundation will go a long way in preparing them for the next levels in their education, not to mention the 21st century workforce.

Our Student-Centered Learning practices are the root of it all: an emphasis on positive relationships, meeting foundational needs, student ownership & agency, a real-world relevance educational focus, positive identity, and anytime/anywhere problem-solving practices for our students to ignite their educational curiosity and support their emotional and social well-being.

As our school slogan says, we encourage our students, faculty, and parents to Take the Lead and always strive for excellence and success in their time at 28 and beyond- thank you all for making it possible!
