Sharing Excess believes that everyone deserves access to the essential resources they need to thrive, especially when millions of pounds of perfectly good food are wasted each year. Recognizing that food waste is both an environmental challenge and a missed opportunity to support communities, the organization is committed to creating sustainable solutions that reduce waste while addressing food insecurity.

By building smarter, community-powered systems, the organization makes it simple and scalable to rescue and redistribute surplus food to individuals and families in need. Through partnerships with local businesses, nonprofits, and community organizations, surplus food is redirected from landfills to neighborhoods where it can make a meaningful impact. This approach not only helps reduce environmental waste but also strengthens communities by increasing access to nutritious food and promoting a culture of sharing, sustainability, and collective responsibility.
